'Roaring Forties' Shootout

Once again Precision Rifle Tasmania (Inc) is proud to announce that from 19-21 May 2023 we will be hosting the the APRS Roaring Forties Precision Rifle Series (PRS) match in Tasmania.

What are the Roaring Forties?

The Roaring Forties are found in the Southern Hemisphere,  generally between 40° and 50° south, where strong westerly winds blow persistently. The Roaring Forties have strong, often gale-force, winds throughout the year. They were named by the sailors who first entered these latitudes.  Tasmania ( including King Island) is located from 40° to 43°  south.

The Central Plateau is the coldest region of Tasmania with temperatures just above 0 °C.  Keep an eye on the day-to-day forecast (on the left) for Runnymede.  Bring a 'Tassie tuxedo' (puff jacket) with you.

Additional Information

Getting here...

For first time visitors there are only two ways (unless you know someone with an ocean-going yacht) to get here. If you intend bringing your own vehicle then the Spirit of Tasmania (known locally as 'The Spirit') is the way to go. If you decide to fly, then coming in through Hobart International Airport is recommended. From the airport it's only 38 minutes to the range and about 10 minutes to Hobart CBD.
